It’s been a busy week.  Mainly because my husband planted a seed in my head for a new venture to run alongside my virtual assistance service.  That venture is …. Cat and small pet sitting.

As a cat owner myself, of two rescue cats, I would never dream of putting them into cattery.  Catteries are fine but my cats have both spent time at our wonderful, local RSPCA. As the staff and facilities are so good at the RSPCA, I’m not sure that they would be able to distinguish between a rehoming shelter and a cattery.  I would hate for them to think they had been abandoned again.

This is why we ask our neighbour/relative to feed our cats whilst we’re away and pay him.  Our cats are happy as they get to stay in their home environment, and we don’t feel as guilty when we head off for adventures in our campervan. We also have fish to feed and plants to be watered, so a variety of needs are solved by one solution.

I know that not everyone gets on with their neighbours or is lucky enough to have a relative living two doors away.  So, I’m hoping my new venture will be of use to them and it isn’t just for cats.  Growing up we had hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits.  Not too long ago we rescued some ex-battery hens, who were a lot of fun.  The point is, as long as I can visit once or twice a day to feed and clean them out, I’m happy to provide a service.

I am only looking to operate in my local area initially.  As anyone who knows me well, can testify that if I can’t run, walk or cycle to my destination, I get a bit twitchy and start moaning about Worcester traffic.  It really does make sense to stick to areas that I know, so that I can plan pet visits more reliably.

As someone who loves variety in their work, I really am excited about this.  I will be targeting customers rather than business owners, so I will be very busy with my Marketing but it’s what I love to do.
