Enjoy Longer Days: Tips for Cat Owners

We’re nearly at the end of January, which means longer days are ahead of us.  I’ve already noticed sunset getting later and my cats wanting to go outside more.  You do see some cats outside in all weathers but ours definitely prefer warmer and drier conditions. You can’t blame them, it’s not as if they can put on boots and a coat.

I always think that cats have a similar attitude to the weather as us, they tend to avoid the bad stuff but as soon as the sun is out, they can lie in it for hours on end.  Even inside they tend to follow the sun around the house, finding that sunny spot.

This is one of the benefits of allowing them to stay at home whilst we’re away.  They get to carry on with their usual routine.  Sitting in whichever windowsill they fancy at that particular time of the day.  They might be a bit put out that we’re not around to pander to their every whim, but at least someone else will visit them to feed them and give them attention.

The impending longer days always encourage me to start planning. For instance, I’m thinking of volunteering at a couple of festivals.  Camping trips are also on the to-do list. There’s also a marathon lined up in the Spring.  It’s great to have plans and things to look forward to and owning a pet shouldn’t stop you from getting away.

If I know that my cats are at home, being fed and looked after, I don’t feel too guilty about getting to the coast/mountains/forest.  We are lucky and have neighbours who will visit our house to feed our cats and water our plants, which include more and more tomato plants each year.  I know not everyone is as lucky.

That’s why engaging a fully insured and enhanced DBS checked cat sitter could provide the solution, if you’re someone who likes their trips away but also would like/has pets.  I personally would love more cats to be adopted from RSPCA etc.  I hope that offering cat sitting can encourage more people, who like their time away, to welcome a cat into their home.

The Benefits of Cat Sitting: Keeping Cats Happy at Home

Like many people, I have had jobs in the past where I haven’t always felt appreciated.  I’ve felt like I’ve worked hard but it’s gone un-noticed.  However, I don’t feel like that with cat sitting.  Although my clients, the cats, might seem a bit wary of me at first, as I’m not their owner.  They…

Don’t let your cats get blue

Yesterday was affectionally known as Blue Monday in the UK and aptly the weather co-operated with this theme by being very grey and drizzly.  Hopefully we all got through it ok and are looking forward to better days to come, where the sun will shine and the days will be longer and warmer. This made…

How to Choose the Right Cat Sitter in Worcester

I’ve lived with cats all my life.  They have always been loyal and very entertaining but all of them have had different personalities (or purrsonalities).  Since being a homeowner, I have noticed that my cats don’t tend to wander too far.  They just enjoy their immediate neighbourhood. Our neighbourhood is home to many cats who…
