I am currently marching on with my Digital Marketing course and it really is enthralling. But there is so much information to take onboard. I have just finished the social media unit and one of the main questions that needs answering is “in such a crowded area as social media how do we stand out? “.
Well I think the first thing to consider is who are we talking to? Every post, video, article is saying something but not everyone will want to listen, so we need to establish who we want to talk to and who will listen. Some businesses have bigger audiences than others, coffee, for example, appeals to all genders, most ages, locations but what might distinguish audiences is affordability. Whereas, many clothes items will appeal to a certain gender, age, work profession might be a factor, affordability will also have an influence. So, whatever it is that we’re selling, we need to really think about our audience/customer before deciding on any marketing.

So, we’ve worked out who our audience/customer is, so where do they hang out so to speak? There are so many social media channels and we all have our favourites but our favourite isn’t always the right one for what we’re saying or what we’re selling. Also things are always changing, I always thought TikTok was good for targeting younger audiences but their demographic is wider than previously thought.
Our product/service might help to work out where our audience is hanging out. For instance, if we were a Fitness coach/instructor, we might want local clients – Facebook if great for engaging with local communities We might want to demonstrate our coaching ,so Instagram is great for visual content like stories/reels, photos and videos. YouTube would also be good, as we could post a series of videos of fitness exercises/coaching sessions.

What if we were a business that valued it’s customer support? We might be a website host who enables clients to build their own website . We could put instructional videos on YouTube, we might also have a presence on X to respond quickly to any user questions. We also might want to advertise our business, so could post content on Instagram.
Therefore, there are many factors to think about when looking at marketing a business but I can help. I understand that not all businesses have a huge Marketing budget, so social media marketing can be cost-effective. If you want to increase your brand visibility and SEO, this can be achieved via posting a few posts on the right social media channels for your business each week. A regular blog could be added to your website and shared on the right social media channels and/or via email.

It probably won’t be a quick process, it takes time to build brand visibility and reputation and creating content takes thought and creativity, but I can help you put in the time and effort to reach your audience. Contact me, I’d love to increase your brand awareness.
